Morning Musume Invades America!

According to Hello!Online, Morning Musume, the flagship group of Hello!Project, is set to perform live in Los Angeles at this year’s Anime Expo convention (July 2-5). This will mark the first time that a Hello!Project unit has performed in the continental United States.

This is fabulous news for all American fans, regardless of their ability to attend the event in question. In the past year, Hangry & Angry have made their US CD debut, with a performance scheduled at Sakura-Con 2009 in April, American fans are hopeful that this may signify the beginning of an H!P presence here in the States.

While the possibility of finding a Hello!Project album in brick-and-mortar stores over here remains remote, it could eventually lead to US versions of albums being released for purchase online. At the present, this is only speculation on my part, but I’m certain it’s something we would all love to see. Time will tell.

ETA: Actually, looking at Japan Files, a graphic of Morning Musume is shown on their newscroll feature near the top of the page. Clicking on it leads to a page saying that “This artist is currently being updated.” So perhaps we will start getting H!P stuff over here after all! Excellent news!
