See No Tsunku, Hear No Tsunku

I’m not a big Berryz fan. I like a couple of songs of theirs, but I haven’t investigated them to any great degree just yet. I think the only two songs of theirs I even know are Koi no Jubaku and Dschinghis Khan. Anyways…

So, the new Berryz Koubou video has been released. Oddly, I can’t actually focus on the song beyond the tiki-tiki-tik-tik bits, because it reminds me of too many other things, such as:

  • Aichan always saying she looks like or most resembles a monkey.
  • Bloodhound Gang’s “The Bad Touch” (The monkey suits)
  • The Tony Danza movie, “Going Ape!” (As a child, I quite enjoyed this, and would very much like a DVD to be released because I haven’t seen it in years.)
  • The Donkey Kong Jr. tabletop arcade game I used to have (maybe I still do, I dunno)
  • Digital Underground’s “The Humpty Dance” (The monkey dance is your chance, do the monk, ooh-ooky baby!)

Seriously, did Junjun get drunk, wait until Tsunku went to go take a nap, and sneak into his office and scribble all this down in his notes for future Berryz material? Don’t get me wrong, I like it, but it’s totally cracktastic. The only thing missing is a short segment at the end of the video where Junjun wakes up from having dreamed the entire video, sleepily trudges to the breakfast table, sits down, and peels herself a banana. I’d pay good money to see that. If I had any money, that is…

  1. The last paragraph was simply genious. Yes, I’d also pay to see that ending to the PV.

  2. I definitely want a banana-themed song for Junjun on the ninth album when it eventually comes out. XD
