Hello, Hello, Hello Blogging!
Welcome one and all to The J-Pex, which, as my header will inform you, is a blog for the world of Hello!Project as well as other J-Pop music that I am interested in. The name, J-Pex, I have chosen for several reasons. When online, I usually either go by my real name, or by Pex, the name of a character from my favorite episode of my favorite TV series. J-Pex, then, comes from an amalgamation of that name and J-Pop. It also has the added bonus of sounding very similar to apex, a word meaning the highest point. Hopefully, through this blog, I intend to share with you the highest points of my J-Pop experience.
I’ll get around to some actual J-pop in my next post, but for now, I’d like to take this introductory post to introduce you to my philosophy of music.
The main thing to remember is this: There is no such thing as bad music. I may not like a particular song, but that doesn’t make it bad in the traditional sense. If I refer to a song as bad, that means I personally don’t care for it, but I’m not making an imperial decree that everyone must hate it. The reverse is also true. My most favoritest (yes, I know that’s not really a word) song in the world, whatever it should happen to be, will be complete and utter rubbish to someone else. And that’s okay. As long as I like it, you don’t have to. I might think you’re completely delusional, but you don’t have to like it, and I won’t hold that against you.
I guess what I’m trying to say in such a long-winded fashion is this: the views and opinions expressed in this blog are mine and mine alone. Feel free to agree or disagree with them as you choose.
As for my feelings on music in general, I truly think that music is universal. There is something about it that can uplift and transcend us from this plane of existence into a realm of auditory euphoria. It can reach our souls and affect us deeply. Most of all, music should be interesting and/or fun, regardless of its country of origin. As such, even though this is a J-Pop music blog, expect to find occasional references to non-J-Pop artists on occasion. I may like J-Pop now, but it is a recent obsession. There are many artists from all music genres whose work I enjoy, so there’s at least a possibility I will talk about them in my posts sometimes. If you come across such a reference and you have no idea who I’m talking about or what their music sounds like, do yourself a favor and get thee to youtube, veoh, etc., and check them out!
Well, that’s it for now. Please enjoy reading my ramblings!
(Oh yes, and if you have blog you’d like me to link to, please leave me a comment and let me know. Similarly, if you want to link to my blog, please feel free to do so. I’d appreciate it.)
